Let me introduce you to my double chin

double-chin-02A_1.jpgDo you ever feel like your second and or third chins are growing at such a rate that you should have to introduce them at parties! "Hi my name is Richard and this is Scott and Berry my second and third chins." Oh so you say you have the same problem and are looking for a solution so you don't have to remember so many names at the next party. Well then lets look at what causes this [tag-cat family health ]double chin[/tag-cat] problem and what we can do to fix it.

Firstly what causes the double chin?

The major contributor to this problem occurs from weight gain or as a direct part of ageing but sometimes are even caused by an inherited characteristic. You may be thinking that your relatively thin so how can this be? Well believe it or not a double chin is very common amongst those who are relatively thin as each person is different and fat deposits differently on different people. Also the shape of the jaw and throat are a factor as well.

Age also plays a factor as skin in adults start to lose its elasticity after 35 to 40 years. Even if you're fit and firm, you may still show a slight double chin simply because of looser skin.

Solutions to fixing a double chin.

All body fat must be processed before use, so the only way to reduce chin fat is to reduce fat all over the body, and keep reducing it until your chin is at the desired thinness. The best way to lose the extra fat is usually to lose just 10-15 extra pounds overall and that will usually fix the problem. Exercising and implementing a nutritious low-fat diet including your recommended daily intake of fresh fruit and vegetables and good overall fitness is the best course of action.

Other solutions include working on the area directly. Simply open your mouth wide, then push the bottom of your jaw forward and then upwards so that your bottom teeth end up over your top lip, do this 10-20 times and repeat 3-5 times every day.

The other option is cosmetic surgery, but this is a last resort. The above recommended steps, particularly when done together will fix the double chin problem for most people, but if it doesn't double chin surgery is an option and is known to be very successful option.
