Burn More Fat with same workout duration
Do you take a rest break on those days you workout? Most people don't; they do a set of exercises then generally take
maybe a two minute brack, but that's hardly a rest, it in in fact just a break. Just think if you could just rest for a while you'd probably feel more energized for the second half of your 60 minute workout.

Just think if you could just rest for a while you'd probably feel more energized for the second half of your 60 minute workout.Good news, not only can you do that, but research published in the Journal of Applied Physiology would indicate that this is in fact beneficial! The study compared the fat metabolism between "a single bout of prolonged exercise" and "repeated bouts of exercise" of equivalent exercise intensity and total exercise duration.
They took seven healthy men and performed the following trials with them:
- A single bout of 60-min exercise (Single).
- Two bouts of 30-min exercise, separated by a 20-min rest between [tag-cat family health ]exercise[/tag-tec] bouts (Repeated).
- Rest for 60 minutes (control).
Results of the study:
The good news is that the relative contribution of fat oxidation to the energy expenditure showed significantly higher values in the repeated trials than in the single trial during the recovery period. These results thus indicate that "repeated" bouts of exercise can cause enhanced fat [tag-tec]metabolism[/tag-tec] (burning of fat) compared with a single bout of prolonged exercise of equivalent total exercise duration.
In layman's terms that means that a short morning workout plus a short evening workout is better than one long cardio session.
